Abstract
This paper argues that measuring quality of life in Africa goes beyondgrowth and its per capita measure. The various models for measuringquality of life have implications for Africa. Measurement, analyticsand ideology, among other factors, continue to affect how quality oflife is measured in Africa. Given the underdeveloped state of theAfrican continent, availability, reliability and consistency of data areessential elements in ensuring that measuring quality of life remainsa permanent work in progress.
